M&C Saatchi powerful ad for Currys PC World.



This advertisement came out last year for  Currys / PC World. The artwork is arresting, and the words to the campaign  are on the left of the ad, with grandiose claims.

“Can we save the free world?

Probably not. Can we introduce universal healthcare? Still no.

But can we help you get the right electricals at the right price?

Yes we can”.

M & C Saatchi explains that the  advertising "follows on from the hugely successful Star Wars campaign, and focuses on an animated fictional store colleague. Driven by the insight that while the opportunity for technology to enhance your life is greater than ever, with technology moving at such a rapid pace people are becoming increasingly more confused and lost, the store colleague helps one such customer navigate their way through an overwhelming choice of televisions to find the one suitable for him".

Currys PC World is part of Dixons Retail, and has benefited from increased footfall in their stores after competitor Comet went into administration last autumn. However, Sebastian James, group CEO of Dixons Retail,  offered Comet staff around 2,000 jobs over Christmas.
