David and Robbie were lucky the tide was ebbing on their way to Newquay, as they were able  to walk/ paddle over the river Gannel instead of a lengthy diversion inland at high tide

Facebook message by David and Robbie, 5 May 2013

"Wassup! We have made it to Newquay. The sun has been shining for 4 days now...obviously we're sunburnt. The adventure is great fun, meeting loads of people from Emmaus Cornwall (the Cornish hub of our charity). Should complete Cornwall by Tuesday if all goes to plan. So far we've had to sleep in a beer garden, got in a fight with a bull, had to wade through waist deep sea water and had to do a forced runner from a campsite, it is a proper adventure. Missing you all loads"

(The bull story is just a simple joke as we had a stand off on a footpath with one. The forced runner is that we assumed 'Gary' (who owned the campsite), never returned, but we made a fond thank you video. Newquay was a great chance to wash clothes, use the kettle for sterilisation of utilities and a proper breakfast”).

The boys joined Robbie's mother in Newquay and celebrated her 50th birthday.  They used ice to minimise the damage on their tendons.  They also met up with the chairman of Emmaus Cornwall, Alan Coode, who brought them drinks and energy bars.

Emmaus is an international charity with 24 communities across the UK.  It provides employment, new qualifications and places to live for the homeless.  *Emmaus Cornwall is opening its first shop this year and  a community residence as soon as possible after that.
